Edwin Ferry Johnson

Edwin Ferry Johnson was the chief engineer of the Northern Pacific Railroad who first lobbied for constructing the northern transcontinental railroad. The city that would become Bismarck was originally named “Edwinton” in his honor, then renamed the following year.
