Caffe Aroma

Caffe Aroma was a long-time coffee shop and restaurant that operated from 1994-2019.

Rick Anderson established Caffe Aroma at 211 E Broadway Avenue in 1994. A Devil’s Lake native, Anderson moved to Bismarck after loosing his job as a planner and machinist for Boeing. He said at the time that the venture solved two needs: he needed a job and a good cup of coffee. Rick and Cindy Anderson sold Caffe Aroma in 2003 or 2004.

The original space was 1,000 square feet with six tables and no kitchen. It relocated to the atrium area of the Logan Building in March 1999 before again relocating, in 2016, to the corner storefront of the KFYR-TV building, known historically as the Hoskins Block under new ownership.

For a short time, beginning in 2017, a second location operated at 4401 Coleman Street, replacing Rocket Coffee there.

Tina Wetzel and Emily Burrows purchased Caffe Aroma in 2015. The duo expanded its offerings to include food and even acquired a liquor license. It closed in 2019.
