Texting & Driving Banned in Bismarck

At tonight’s meeting, the Bismarck City Commission banned texting and driving within the city. The new ordinance takes effect immediately and will carry a $50 fine for a primary offense.

The idea of a ban on texting and driving has been somewhat controversial. Supporters have argued about the increased safety potential of such an ordinance, while criticisms have ranged from enforcement concerns to increased government control.
