Bearscat Bakehouse<\/a>, formerly The Donut Hole, is planning a\u00a0Mandan location and has applied for a $150,000 grant from Chase Mission Main Street Grants to aid in its plans, the Bismarck Tribune<\/em> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

15 grants will be awarded, based partially on the number of votes received. Bearscat needs at least 250 votes by October 17, which can be cast\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bearscat’s owner is planning a Main Street location, presumably aiming to\u00a0fill\u00a0a void left from long-time local bakery George’s Bakery<\/a>, which closed in 2006 after 59 years (44 years as George’s). Bearscat has also recently expanded to include a concession stand at BSC Aquatic & Wellness Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bearscate Bakehouse was born\u00a0in 2012 when local resident\u00a0Kevin Cavanagh purchased the existing The Donut Hole<\/a>, which was established\u00a0by Dickinson-based Bakery Boy\u00a0in 1980.<\/p>\n
