As part of the agreement, St. Alexius will have to fork out cash to widen part of 12th Street to\u00a0accommodate\u00a0higher traffic volume.<\/p>\n<p>The street closures were part of a long-standing agreement between the hospital and the city dating back decades.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time St. Alexius closed off\u00a0existing\u00a0streets for expansion, previously consuming portions of Thayer Avenue and 10th Street long ago.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Alexius was established in 1885, becoming the first hospital in Dakota Territory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Bismarck City Commission has approved St. Alexius&#8217;s request to block parts of 11th Street &amp; Thayer Avenue for a future expansion of the long-time hospital.
