The improvements are expected to cost $1.3 million and are mostly focused on the Parkade&#8217;s lobby, restrooms, elevators, and office and retail space.\u00a0The <em>Bismarck Tribune<\/em> is also <a title=\"Consultant suggests adding glass tower to Parkade\" href=\"http:\/\/bismarcktribune.com\/news\/local\/govt-and-politics\/consultant-suggests-adding-glass-tower-to-parkade\/article_a6d0e0e0-bbe6-11e1-ad8e-001a4bcf887a.html\" target=\"_blank\">reporting<\/a> on a proposal that would add a glass-enclosed stair tower to the Parkade for an additional $2.2 million. The enclosed staircase was suggested mainly for security purposes.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the proposed glass enclosed staircase, other planned improvements include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allowing separate access for White House Cafeteria, which is housed inside <a title=\"Thrifty White Drug \/ White Mart Department Store\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/thrifty-white-drug\">White Drug<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Replacing 2 elevators.<\/li>\n<li>Renovating facility restrooms to meet ADA compliance.<\/li>\n<li>Altering current leasable space to allow expansion of current businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Modifications of the space soon being vacated by UND Center for Family Medicine, including preparations\u00a0for a new tenant (most likely Medcenter One).<\/li>\n<li>Improvements to Parkade office space.<\/li>\n<li>Improvement to Radisson Skyway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Parkade opened in 1970, becoming Bismarck&#8217;s first parking ramp.<\/p>\n<p>The improvements will be paid for with parking fees from ramp users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Bismarck Parking Authority is in the early stages of planning upgrades to Bismarck&#8217;s oldest parking ramp, The Parkade.
