{"id":171368,"date":"2017-04-18T15:27:12","date_gmt":"2017-04-18T20:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/?p=171368"},"modified":"2017-04-26T16:06:24","modified_gmt":"2017-04-26T21:06:24","slug":"new-life-for-former-train-depot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/171368\/new-life-for-former-train-depot","title":{"rendered":"New Life For Former Train Depot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bismarck&#8217;s historic train depot &#8211; the long-time home of Fiesta Villa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/141149\/fiesta-villa-closing\">that shuttered last year<\/a> &#8211; will soon be home to a brewery, restaurant, and event center.<\/p>\n<p>The building&#8217;s owner, Dale Zimmerman &#8211; who also owns <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/wiki\/peacock-alley-bar-grill\">Peacock Alley<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/wiki\/east-40-chophouse-tavern\">40 Steak+Seafood<\/a>, has announced plans to renovate the former depot\u00a0to house\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/7423\/edwinton-brewing-launches-local-beer-at-peacock-alley\">Edwinton Brewing<\/a> and a restaurant on the west side. The east side, on the other hand, will contain rent-able event space.<\/p>\n<p>Edwinton Brewing, whose name is a homage to Bismarck&#8217;s original name,\u00a0has already been serving up local brews at Zimmerman&#8217;s own Peacock Alley since 2012.<\/p>\n<h2>About the Depot<\/h2>\n<p>Bismarck\u2019s historic train depot was completed in 1901 at a cost of $33,601 \u2013 a replacement for the original Northern Pacific depot, which was destroyed in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/wiki\/1898-fire\">1898 Fire<\/a>. The facility ceased operation as a train depot\u00a0in\u00a01975.\u00a0By 1977, the building was remodeled to house the Mexican-themed restaurant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/wiki\/fiesta-villa-mexican-restaurant\">Fiesta Villa<\/a>, who remained on the site until <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bismarckcafe.com\/blogs\/141149\/fiesta-villa-closing\">its closure in 2016<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bismarck&#8217;s historic train depot &#8211; the long-time home of Fiesta Villa that shuttered last year &#8211; will soon be home to a brewery, restaurant, and event center.
