Elg is current the police chief for West Monroe, LA and brings 28 years of experience, including 17 years as a police chief. Long-time Bismarck police officer, Dan Donlin, was selected as an alternative should the offer with Elg fall through.<\/p>\n<p>Fred Wooten has been serving as interim Chief since the retirement of Witt, but Wooten is also expected to soon retire.<\/p>\n<p><em>UPDATE (12\/20\/2012): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kxnet.com\/story\/20398587\/christopher-elg-declines-bismarck-police-chief-position\" target=\"_blank\">According to KX News<\/a>, Christopher Elg has declined the offer.
