The new Dan’s Supermarket<\/a> at Sunrise Town Centre<\/a> is now open, becoming\u00a0the company’s sixth location in Bismarck-Mandan. The new store anchors the new\u00a0Sunrise Town Centre mixed-use development in northeast Bismarck, near the intersection of Centennial Road and Century Avenue.<\/p>\n

Dan’s is the second retailer to open at Sunrise Town Centre, following Gee Williquors<\/a>, which opened last month. Other\u00a0planned establishments include Caribou Coffee, a Clark convenience store,\u00a0BNC National Bank, and Gate City Bank.<\/p>\n

As with a few other Dan’s locations, Gateway Pharmacy is also housed inside the store.<\/p>\n

About Dan’s Supermarket<\/h3>\n

Dan’s was founded in 1949, as Bismarck Supervalu, when\u00a0Roy Rockstad & Eugene \u201cBus\u201d Leary purchased the local Piggly Wiggly. The first “Dan’s” location opened in 1953 at Arrowhead Plaza, which remains today. Over the years, the company has expanded, not only across Bismarck-Mandan, but also to additional cities, including Dickinson and even outside of North Dakota. The company has since consolidated its operations to focus on its core market.\u00a0Dan’s added its fifth local location just over a year ago after purchasing the Bismarck Central Market store<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, Dan\u2019s is not named after a real person. It was created as a marketing gimmick to coincide with the \u201cDan the Savings Man\u201d campaign.<\/p>\n
