The historic Patterson Hotel is also visible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Patterson Hotel opened New Year&#8217;s Day, 1911. It was once the tallest building in North Dakota and the state&#8217;s unofficial political headquarters for decades. <\/p>\n<p>The Seeds of Hope building formerly housed\u00a0Universal Motors (later McCarney Ford). In 1964, it was converted to become a second J.C. Penney location (in addition to the NW corner of 5th &amp; Broadway).
