United Tribes Technical College

United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) is an accredited post-secondary tribal education institution located in southern Bismarck. While its focus is on educating and training Native Americans, admission is open to the general public.

The facility began as United Tribes Training Center in August 1970. Its original staff of 129 not only included instructors and administration, but also day care personnel and counselors.

It became accredited with the Higher Learning Commission in 1984.

UTTC is operated by five American tribes: Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold, the Spirit Lake Tribe, the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.

Its campus was originally the site of Fort Lincoln and used as an internment camp during World Word II. Brick buildings built in 1903 for Fort Lincoln are still utilized by the college to this day.
