Skippers

Skippers, sometime stylized as SkipperS, is a regional seafood and chicken restaurant founded in Bellevue, Washington in 1969.

Bismarck once had two franchised Skippers locations. John and Connie Sylvester opened the first local Skippers in south Bismarck at 505 Bismarck Avenue in 1979 (now home to LaCaretta), followed by a north location in 1983 in the Kmart parking lot (now home to Arby’s). The Sylvesters also operated a location in Minot.

The restaurant was easily recognizable for its fisherman wharf style that included a pylon sign resembling an anchor.

Both local Skippers closed in the early-to-mid 1990s.

Today, there are 30 Skippers locations in five states.
