Laying of the Original Capitol's Cornerstone in 1883

The cornerstone ceremony for the North Dakota’s original Capitol building – then Dakota Territory. Numerous dignitaries attended, including Sitting Bull and former President Ulysses S. Grant.

Grant was en route to attend Northern Pacific Railway’s golden spike ceremony.
