Gateway to Science Center website

Gateway to Science Center is a hands-on education center targeted at children.

History

Gateway to Science Center was established on November 25, 1994 in a 2,000-square-foot retail space at the center of Gateway Mall. In 2005, the hands-on science center relocated into the Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex (formerly Masonic Center) at 1810 Schafer Street, next to Bismarck State College.

Gateway to Science was organized by Bismarck Parks and Recreation, Bismarck Recreation Council, Gateway Mall – who donated the space, a 14-member committee, and other volunteers. Frank Koch, a chemistry professor at Bismarck State College, conceived the project and spent two years gathering a committee to launch the center.

In March 2023, Gateway to Science opened a brand new $26 million facility located at 1600 Canary Ave after about four years of development.
