Mandan Dairy Queen Planning Renovations; Seeking Incentives

Owners of the Dairy Queen on Mandan’s Main Street are seeking municipal incentives towards a $180,000 renovation for the 32-year-old structure. The request will be present at the Mandan City Commission’s Tuesday meeting.

Of the $180,000, $30,000 of it is targeted at the city’s storefront improvement program, which is intended for “improvements to the exterior of buildings on street-facing sides,” according to Mandan’s official website.

The restaurant’s owners are also requesting Renaissance Zone funding along with five-year property tax and state income tax exemptions, totaling $48,308.

In addition to exterior upgrades, which are estimated at $151,000, planned interior renovations will include ceiling improvements, new lighting, and automatic doors on the east side.

Constructed in 1982, this would be the restaurant’s first major renovation since opening. Upon renovation completion, the building’s estimated value will increase from $210,900 t $264,000.
