CVS/pharmacy's location on State Street opened in February 2009.
The building’s been completed for months now, but the relocation has just now taken affect. CVS/pharmacy has completed its move from inside Kirkwood Mall into its brand-new freestanding store located directly northwest of the shopping center that’s been home to CVS (previously Osco Drug) for nearly forty years.
This is the second Bismarck location CVS/pharmacy has relocated since acquiring Osco Drug in 2006, having previously relocated its Gateway Mall store in February 2009. Osco Drug was an original tenant at Kirkwood Mall when the center opened in April 1971.
Founded in 1963, CVS is the nation’s largest retail pharmacy chain, with more than 7,000 locations across 43 states and annual revenues topping $87 billion. There are currently 6 CVS/pharmacy stores in North Dakota, including two here in Bismarck. It is the only national pharmacy chain to operate within the state due to a strict pharmacy ownership law.
