Suspect Shot By Police; 2nd Police-Involved Shooting In Less Than 2 Weeks

Travis Gene Clark Jr

A wanted suspect was shot by Bismarck Police during an altercation yesterday evening. It was the second Police-involved shooting for the department in a span of less than two weeks.

Authorities have been searching for the 27-old-year suspect, identified by KX News as Travis Gene Clark Jr, since January 19 when he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home waiving a gun at her and her 10-year-old daughter.

Last night’s incident happened at a mobile home park at the 1000 row of 1119 University Drive in south Bismarck, after Mandan Police tipped off to Bismarck Police that the suspect’s vehicle may be in the area. Backup was called after an officer confirmed witnessing the suspect enter a home.

The suspect, who was believed to be armed, refused to comply with the authorities after leaving the home. A press release states that the suspect was shot after entering his vehicle when he made a “deliberate movement as if reaching for a weapon.” Further investigation confirms that a revolver was located in the vehicle.

The suspect’s condition is unknown. No one else was injured. Per common policy, the two officers involved are on administrative leave pending investigation.
