Overnight Homicide in Bismarck; Suspect Dead

UPDATE (12:38pm): Bismarck Police have confirmed that the suspect, Kwasniewski, was found dead in Dunn Country, near where his vehicle was discovered earlier. His death appears to be a suicide, but investigation continues.

Police have also released the name of this morning’s victim… 30-year-old Cain Fischer of Bismarck.


Bismarck Police are searching for a homicide suspect after responding to an early morning call at the 600 block of North 22nd Street.

Police were dispatched shortly after 1am after a Bismarck woman came home to discover her 30-year-old boyfriend dead in her home, with the alleged suspect threatening her with a gun.

Police instigated a reverse 911 call while doing an extensive grid-pattern search of the area, which didn’t yield in locating the suspect.

Police are on the lookout for 35-year-old Kirk Kwasniewski, described as 5’9″ tall, 178 pounds, brown hair, goatee, and blue eyes. His vehicle has since been located in Dunn County. The suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.
