In a press release, Bismarck Police are setting the record straight on a reported spike in violent crime.
Several media outlets, including USA Today and the Huffington Post, are reporting that violent crime in Bismarck grew by roughly 160% between 2009-2013.
According to the press release, the Bismarck Police Department cites FBI statistics that reveals an increase of 14.3% over the same period… from 257.7 violent crimes per 100,000 people to 294.6. Still a startling increase, but nowhere near the alleged 160% figure.
